Nepal Airlines gearing up to fly to Sydney, Colombo, and Seoul

KATHMANDU: Nepal Airlines, the country’s national flag carrier, is gearing up to launch direct flights to major international destinations, including Sydney in Australia, Colombo in Sri Lanka, and Seoul in South Korea.

Yuvraj Adhikari, the Executive Chairman of Nepal Airlines Corporation, stated that a comprehensive action plan has been formulated to initiate these new flight routes.

The plan was unveiled during the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) involving Nepal Airlines Corporation and several private sector entities, including the Nepal Chamber of Commerce.

Adhikari acknowledged the challenges and obstacles faced in establishing the flight routes, particularly to Sydney, but emphasized the airline’s determination to overcome all pressures and influences.

“The Corporation has made significant strides towards launching flights to Sydney, but certain vested interests have attempted to hinder our progress. Nevertheless, we are committed to achieving our goals in the face of these challenges,” he said.

Adhikari further outlined the airline’s broader objectives, which include expanding its international flight network and increasing the frequency of flights to existing destinations.

To facilitate this expansion, there are plans to acquire additional aircraft, either through purchase or lease, in order to enhance the efficiency of the airline’s services.

Highlighting the pivotal role played by Nepal Airlines in promoting tourism and attracting foreign visitors to Nepal, he stressed the importance of governmental support and efficient management to optimize the airline’s services.
