UML chair Oli complains of being defamed

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli complained that his party and the leadership have been defamed by connecting them with fake Bhutanese refugee-related fraud cases.

UML Chairman Oli, who had an hour-long discussion with Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Center chairman Pushpa Kamala Dahal ‘Prachanda’ today at Singha Durbar said that there was no discussion about fake refugees, but did not offer details of the discussion.

He commented that rumors were being spread against him saying that he was trying to save the accused.

In another question about UML Secretary Top Bahadur Rayamajhi absconding, who is embroiled in the refugee case, Oli clarified that Rayamazhi is not in contact with him.

Prime Minister Dahal informed that Oli has not made any further proposals regarding the refugee case except for asking for general information about the investigation. He promised that the investigation will be carried out smoothly without being influenced by anyone.

The UML chairman met Prime Minister Prachanda for the second time in three days after the arrest warrant was issued against Rayamajhi in the fake Bhutanese refugee case.

An arrest warrant was issued against Rayamajhi on Wednesday, while Oli met the Prime Minister on Thursday and showed interest. Rayamajhi has been absconding since Thursday.

Government Secretary Teknarayan Pandey and others have been arrested. Rayamajhi’s son Sandeep has already been arrested.
