Ministry scraps contract with a construction company

Decides to keep it on black-list for three years

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development of Bagmati Province has scrapped the contract after the construction company failed to complete the construction of bridge at Samri rivulet in Makawanpur district even after extending the deadline time and again.

The contract was signed between the Infrastructure Development Office and Nagarjun-Shankarmali JV in 2072 BS for the construction of the bridge.

The deadline for the construction of the bridge was extended twice as the construction company had to complete the bridge construction in 2074 BS.

Saying the construction company did not forward the construction activities so far even after extending the deadline, the Ministry cancelled the contract and decided to keep the construction company in black-list for three years.

Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development, Yubraj Dulal, said the contract was scrapped after the construction company failed to complete the construction of the bridge even after extending the deadlines time and again.

There was no alternative to cancel the contract after the work progress of the construction company was not satisfactory as well as it remained absent in the meeting called by the Ministry.

The estimated cost for the construction of the bridge is Rs 53.79 million.
