Nepal Media Society challenges Rabi Lamichhane to substantiate allegations against media houses, journalists

KATHMANDU: Nepal Media Society has challenged former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane to substantiate the allegations that he made against media houses, journalists on Sunday.

The Society said Lamichhane’s allegations on media and journalists have drawn serious attention towards the media and journalists at a press conference.

The Society has alleged Lamichhane of giving “threatening statements” against the Nepali journalists and media organizations by making baseless, biased and fabricated accusations.

“This is a serious attack on freedom of press and expression,” the Society said in a statement on Monday.

“Lamichhane’s attitude towards the established journalism sector of Nepal, which has been in the vanguard of Nepal’s change and the establishment, protection and development of the people’s rights, exposes his attitude,” the statement added.
