High Court orders to produce Paul Shah within 15 days

KATHMANDU: Kaski High Court ordered to produce actor Purna Bikram Shah, known as Paul Shah, who is in custody on charges of raping a minor singer, before the court within 15 days from today.

Earlier, Shah was acquitted by the Tanahun District Court. However, District Court Nawalpur has not acquitted him yet.

The bench of Pokhara High Court judges Dilliraj Acharya and Rishi Rajbhandari ordered Shah to appear.

A minor singer filed a complaint against her for raping her in a hotel in Gaindakot, Nawalpur.

Nawalpur District Court sentenced him to imprisonment for two and a half years in this case. Paul’s lawyers filed a writ in Pokhara High Court against this order. During the hearing on the same writ, the court directed to produce the accused Paul within two weeks.

Paul is currently in Tanahun jail. He has already been acquitted by Tanahun court on January 18. He was accused of raping the same minor singer in a hotel in Damauli. But he was acquitted in that case and is living in prison because of the Gaindakot hotel incident.

The Nawalpur court acquitted Paul of the charge of rape, but sentenced Paul to the crime of child sexual abuse.
