ISPs call for support to resolve internet-related issues

KATHMANDU: The Internet Service Providers Association has requested stakeholders to help solve the problem in internet service delivery.

The ISPA has called on the government for intervention station that Nepal Telecommunication Authority had been cutting off cables that provide internet service in different parts of the country, taking over the rent of telecom poles used to make the connections.

The Association has requested the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Telecommunication Authority, National Human Rights Commission, Consumers’ Forum and responsible state agencies to solve the problem.

President of the association, Sudhir Parajuli, said that the NTA has increased the pole rent from by 600 to 700 per cent.

“The internet service in Pokhara and its surrounding areas may be interrupted at any time”, the Association said in a statement.
