Nepal Scouts holding election after 12 years

KATHMANDU: Nepal Scouts is preparing to hold its local, provincial and national council elections after a gap of 12 years.

The election of the local councils will be taking place on January 12-14, 2024 and that of the provincial councils and National Council on January 20, said Lok Bahadur Bhandari, Convener of the Nepal Scouts ad-hoc committee and Chief Commissioner.

A notice has been issued for filling up the online membership application within December 16.
The World Scouts Organization and WAGS international representatives have been invited for observing the election.

Election has not been held in Nepal Scouts since 2068 BS. The organization is functioning under the ad-hoc committee since the then Chief Commissioner resigned from his post 10 years back.

Election has not been held in Nepal Scouts due to internal conflict although there is provision of holding the election every four years as per the Nepal Scouts Act, 2050 BS.
