Govt to provide Rs 2 lakh each as immediate relief for Jajarkot earthquake victims’ families



KATHMANDU: The government has announced an immediate relief package of Rs two lakhs for the families of the victims who lost their lives in the devastating Jajarkot earthquake.

This decision was reached during the Council of Ministers meeting convened at Singha Durbar earlier today (Sunday) morning.

A minister who participated in the meeting said that the cabinet also decided to welcome and facilitate international assistance in the wake of the calamity.

Additionally, the government has set plans in motion for the reconstruction of the structures damaged by the seismic event, with the necessary funds earmarked for this purpose.

Official reports have confirmed a death toll of 157 following the 6.4 magnitude earthquake that struck Ramidanda in Jajarkot at midnight on Friday.

The disaster has left hundreds injured and caused extensive physical damage estimated to be worth crores.
