Absenteeism marks UML Lumbini Convention: 39 delegates forgo voting



BUTWAL: During the state convention of CPN (UML) in Lumbini, a notable 39 representatives were conspicuously absent from the election proceedings. Among a total of 1,004 delegates, only 965 actively participated by casting their votes.

Hari Prasad Bhandari, the head of the election committee, disclosed that 965 individuals exercised their voting rights, representing an impressive 96 percent of the total delegate count.

The convention, which commenced on Saturday, witnessed a head-to-head contest for the chairmanship between Radhakrishna Kandel and Hari Rijal.

Meanwhile, Laxman Acharya was elected uncontested as the secretary. In addition to the secretary’s appointment, officials and members from four districts were also elected.

The vote tally has been concluded, and the election results are expected to be officially announced soon.
