KATHMANDU: Dr. Shekhar Koirala, a prominent figure in the ruling Nepali Congress, has voiced his objections to the recent statements made by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra (Balen) Shah.
Koirala expressed his concerns, stating that Prime Minister Dahal should refrain from making irresponsible statements that fuel ethnic tensions within the country.
During an event hosted by the Nepal Civil Service Employees Union, an organization closely affiliated with the party, in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Leader Koirala emphasized that the nation cannot function smoothly with the tumultuous remarks coming from both Prime Minister Dahal and Kathmandu Mayor Shah.
He remarked, “It is disconcerting to hear such chaotic statements from the Mayor of Kathmandu, who governs the largest metropolis in the country. Likewise, the Prime Minister should not advocate for a chaotic path to ethnic identity formation. This is not how our country operates. Our party and its members should take these matters seriously, as should the employees.”
Leader Koirala further recommended that the party President, Sher Bahadur Deuba, convene a meeting with the ministers representing the party in the government to address the concerns of the civil service organization closely linked to the party.
Additionally, he urged Chairman Deuba to establish a dedicated committee under the leadership of Joint General Secretary Jeevan Pariyar to provide party recommendations on the Federal Civil Service Act.
