KATHMANDU: The main opposition party, CPN-UML, has expressed strong objections to a recent statement made by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
Speaking at a book release event held in the capital on Monday, Prime Minister Dahal expressed his admiration for Sardar Pritam Singh’s frequent visits to India in an effort to support his candidacy for the Prime Minister’s position.
Meanwhile, the UML has convened a parliamentary party meeting to protest against Prime Minister Dahal’s statement, citing concerns that it undermined the sovereignty of the country and was an affront to the dignity of the parliament.
Subash Nemwang, Deputy Leader of the Parliamentary Party, stated that the meeting of the Parliamentary Party would take place this afternoon at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneswor.
CPN-UML leaders have also announced their intention to take to the streets to protest against Prime Minister Dahal’s statement, in addition to voicing their objections within the Parliament.
Describing the Prime Minister’s statement as catastrophic, the party has accused him of even disrespecting the authority of the sovereign Parliament.
There is a strong likelihood that the party will demand Prime Minister Dahal’s resignation on ethical grounds.
