Municipality provides grant to farmers for milk production

TRIVENI: Kawaswoti municipality in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta-East) has provided grants to the milk producer farmers.

The municipality distributed grants to the farmers based on the volume of milk production.

As informed, the municipality has provided grants amounting to over Rs 2.6 million.

Chief of Kawaswoti Municipality Livestock Development Section, Dr Tekraj Poudel said the municipality offered Rs 1.5 in grant for each liter to encourage milk production.

In the current fiscal year 2079-80, the municipality provided grants to the farmers through four cooperatives.

He shared grant was provided for a total of 1,747,200 liters of milk collected through four cooperatives this year.

Grant was provided for the milk collected through Shivamandir Women Multipurpose Cooperative of Kawaswoti-2, Integrated Milk Development Cooperative of Kawaswoti-8, Sana Kisan Krishi Sahakari of Kawaswoti-14 and Janakalyan Milk Development Cooperative.

It may be noted that Kawaswoti municipality has been providing grants to the farmers for milk production for the past four years.

The municipality has distributed grant amounting to Rs 11.6 million to the milk producer farmers.

A total of 800 farmers were benefitted from the grant provided in the current fiscal year based on their milk production volume.
