11th NSA Cup Swimming Competition 2080: 4 more records in swimming on second day



KATHMANDU: Four more records were set on the second day of the 11th NSA Cup swimming competition organized by the Nepal Swimming Association.

On the second day, Alexander Gadegaard Shah set two records in 50m and 100m freestyle. In the 50m freestyle, Alex completed the distance in 24.12 seconds, improving his own time of 24.97 seconds in the heat stage in the morning. He again improved on that time in the final and set a new record of 23.97 seconds. Similarly, in 100 meters, Alex improved his own time of 53.41 seconds and set a new record with a time of 52.96 seconds.

Similarly, in the 100m breaststroke, Bikas Kumal clocked 1 minute 10.14 seconds, displacing Shubham’s 1 minute 10.59 seconds. Kumal set two records on the first day yesterday.

Another such record was held in the name of Nazir Hussain. Bettering his own time of 4 minutes 12.23 seconds, he set a new record of 4 minutes 12.17 seconds.

In the competition, Mayon Shrestha in men’s U10 side and Sisombum Rai in women’s side, Kalkin Shrestha and Royal Prajapati in 11-12 side, Ajal Kazi Tamrakar, and Megan Gurung in 13-14 side, Alvin Maharjan, and Rosha Neupane in 15-17 side and Alexander Gadegad Shah in open side and On the women’s side, Gaurika Singh and Duwana Lama were jointly declared the best players. After Gaurika and Duwana had equal marks, both were declared the best.

In the competition, Nisharga Batika School stood first with 123 marks. Swasti Sri Gurukul was in second place with 98 points and Lincoln was in third place with 54 points.

The chief guest, Member Secretary of the National Sports Council, Tank Lal Ghisingh, awarded medals, trophies, and certificates to the winning players and teams.

The best players in the age group received 3,000 in cash and the open-side players received 10,000 in cash. The players who held similar records received 5,000 cash for each record.
