Palpa jeep mishap: Four deceased identified



PALPA: The death toll has reached four in the jeep accident that occurred at Devichhahara rural municipality-8, Satyabati Keurechheda in Palpa.

Identities of the deceased have been established. Some 11 persons were injured in the accident.

The jeep (Lu 1 Cha 9024) en route to Panena of Arghakhanchi from Saljhandi of Rupandehi met with the accident on Sunday evening.

Three persons, including the jeep driver died on the spot and one was pronounced dead during the treatment, said spokesperson of Jalla Police Office, Palpa, DSP Birendra Thapa.

The deceased have been identified as jeep driver Ramesh BK, 26, of Panini rural municipality-1, Panena, Shyamkala Pariyar, 55, of Panini-1, Sita Gautam, 25, of Panini-2, Pokharathok and two-year-child Samyog Gautam of the same place.

Police said Samyog died while being treated and others died on the spot. Five critically injured persons are being treated in Butwal-based Lumbini Provincial Hospital; two are undergoing treatment in Chauraha Hospital Butwal and four in Bhairtahawa Medical College, police informed.

The jeep had veered off some 70 meters down from the road. DSP Thapa said investigation into the incident was underway.
