Fake Bhutanese refugee scam: Bail hearing to continue even today



KATHMANDU: Bail hearing of the 18 individuals accused in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam that began at the District Court Kathmandu on Sunday will continue today as well.

All 18 arrested in the case were produced in Court on Sunday.

A single bench of District Judge Prem Prasad Neupane is hearing the cases.

All the arrested individuals, including former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand, former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Bhutanese refugee leader Teknath Rijal, Indrajit Rai, Angtawa Sherpa, Shamsher Miya, Tek Narayan Pandey, Sanu Bhandari, Govinda Chaudhary and Ram Sharan KC were produced in the court in Sunday’s bail hearing.

Others accused include Sandesh Sharma, Narendra KC, Tanka Gurung, Sagar Rai, Keshav Dulal, Laxmi Maharjan and Hari Bhakta Maharjan.

After the hearing, the court will decide whether to release them on bail or put them in prison for further investigation.
