Minister Kirati reiterates on developing Dharan as tourist destination



DHARAN: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati has stressed the need for developing Dharan as the center of tourism in the east.

The city in Sunsari district has many religious tourist destinations and the Sapkoti waterway that could attract tourists, he said. He was of the view of marketing the local products.

The minister was speaking at the concluding event of the ‘Dharan Expo, 2079’ organized here by the Sunsari Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) with the support of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

Local products, tests, culture, and culture should be branded and marketed so as to promote tourism, he said. He also urged all farmers, industrialists and traders for the sustainable development of tourism through the mobilization of Nepal resources collectively.

Similarly, former minister Min Bishwokarma asked local industrialists and traders to brand local products for the maximum utilization of available resources.

Stressing the need for promoting local dishes for the tourism development of Dharan, the NTB executive head Dr Dhananjaya Regmi said the NTB had been playing an active role in promoting tourism of the entire east.

The Dharan Sub Metropolitan City Mayor Harka Sampang stressed the need for making rules that prevent capital outflow from Dharan.

The Expo is expected to help promote tourism of Dharan and surroundings, said the NTB member Krishna Shah. The total 130 stalls were installed in in the Expo that started on February 23, said Bijaya Shrestha, the CCI, Sunsari President.
