Opp’n parties to finalize candidate for NA Vice Chair today



KATHMANDU: The opposition parties, including the Nepali Congress (NC) are holding a meeting to finalize the name of the candidate for the Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly today morning.

Chief Whip of the NC Parliamentary Party, Ramesh Lekhak said that the meeting called by NC represented in the Parliament will discuss on Sunday morning to finalize the name of the NC Vice Chairman candidate.

Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of Unified Socialist Party, said that his party will not claim the position of Vice Chairman of the National Assembly to be held on February 6.

The parties on Saturday discussed the issue and agreed to sit for another round of talks on Sunday.

The meeting participated by leaders of the NC, Unified Socialist Party, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, and Rastriya Janamorcha was held at the office of the NC’s Parliamentary Party at Singha Durbar.

The election of the National Assembly vice president will be held on February 6, while the President’s election is scheduled for March 9, 2023.
