KATHMANDU: The Labor Court has ruled in favor of Madhav Basnet and Ravi Manandhar, employees of Kantipur Publications, ordering the payment of 60% of the minimum wage for their services.

Basnet and Manandhar had lodged a complaint against Kantipur Publications, resulting in the court’s decision to grant them wages, services, and facilities until they receive the full compensation owed.

Following the court’s verdict, Basnet expressed satisfaction, stating that justice prevailed.

The protest, initiated last July, centered around allegations that Kantipur Media Group had terminated, relocated, failed to provide conducive working conditions, and undervalued the substantial contributions of long-standing journalists. This was seen as a violation of the Working Journalists Act and established protocols.
