KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and Nepal Samajbadi Party Chairman Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has voiced concerns regarding the buying and selling of Ncell shares.

Dr. Bhattarai took to Twitter on Monday to express views on the share transactions involving Ncell.

In his tweet, Bhattarai pointed out that the Ncell share transaction case signals underlying issues and sheds light on the significant challenges within foreign investment practices in Nepal.

“Should we expect future investors if a foreign entity is compelled to offload its shares at a price 28 times below their actual value?” questioned Bhattarai. He further pondered, “If this is an attempt to evade capital gains tax and other levies, what impact does such deceptive investment have on the nation?”

Bhattarai raised another pertinent query: “How can transactions of such substantial monetary value go against the nation’s laws?” He continued, “Could there be involvement from individuals within various sectors of the government? Let the government’s leadership and regulatory bodies clarify the issue.”
