Deputy Mayor Singh of Nalgad Municipality killed in earthquake



JAJARKOT: The earthquake led to the passing of Sarita Singh, the Deputy Mayor of Nalgad Municipality in Jajarkot.

Singh, who was in Jajarkot’s headquarters Khalanga when the earthquake struck last night, suffered severe injuries after being trapped under a collapsed structure.

A deadly 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit Jajarkot last night leaving 50 dead, authorities said.

Purna Bahadur Khatri, Ward Chairman of Nalgad Municipality Ward No. 2, confirmed her demise.

Having been elected as a representative of the Nepali Congress in the local elections last year, Singh’s death left the community in deep sorrow and mourning, he said.
