Chinese national arrested in Kathmandu in connection with Dolakha gold smuggling case
Another Chinese national has been arrested by the police in connection with the recent seizure of 11 kg of gold in Dolakha. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) arrested an individual on Wednesday afternoon, according to Bureau spokesperson SP Navraj Adhikari. The arrested individual is identified as 66-year-old Tashi Dawa, also known as Agar Lama, who presently resides in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-15, Swayambhu, and hails from Sichuan, China. He was taken into custody in the Swayambhu area.
Curfew continues in Nepalgunj
A curfew order has been in place since Tuesday in the Nepalgunj sub-metropolis in Banke. According to the District Administration Office, twenty-two people: five security personnel and 17 general public were injured during a clash that occurred amidst the curfew. Of them, 21 have already returned home after treatment while one is undergoing treatment at the Bheri Hospital.
National Security Council meeting takes place in Singha Durbar
The National Security Council convened its meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, Singha Durbar, Kathmandu on Wednesday. In attendance were Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka, Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, as well as the heads of various security agencies.
Police nab man with pistol
Kailali police arrested a man with a local pistol in Dhangadhi on Wednesday. According to the District Police Office, Kailali, Saroj Dhanuk, 28, a resident of Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city-13, Sri Lanka, was arrested by the police with 1 pistol and 4 rounds of bullets.
19th Asian Games: India beats Nepal in women’s volleyball
India has defeated Nepal in the women’s volleyball tournament under the 19th Asian Games (Asiad) underway in Hangzhou, China. The Nepali women’s team lost the match to India by 1-3 set. Nepal faced a 23-25 defeat to India in the first set. It won the second set 26-28. However, it faced drubbing in the subsequent two sets.
