Rainfall likely to affect road and air transport, tourism

KATHMANDU: As the country witnesses the monsoon season, the Meteorological Forecasting Division has urged people to take essential precautions to mitigate potential risks or damages caused by heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, floods, landslides, and erosion.

Several regions across the country, including certain areas of Koshi, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, are currently experiencing light to moderate rainfall.

In the afternoon, there is a possibility of heavy rain with thunder and lightning at a couple of places in Koshi and Gandaki provinces.

There is also a possibility of heavy rain with thunder and lightning at one or two places in Madhesh, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.

There is also a possibility of gusty winds in a few places of Terai in Madhesh and Lumbini provinces.

According to the Division, the rainfall may have an impact on various sectors including road and air transport, agriculture, tourism, and other related industries.
