Fake Bhutanese refugee scam: 106 file complaints against fraud for over Rs 230 million
Police have so far detained eight people for an investigation against alleged fraud of millions of rupees, promising people to send the United States of America as the Bhutanese refugees. Spokesperson for the Nepal Police, Deputy Inspector General Kuber Kadayat said a warrant has been issued against some more people and the police have been searching for them.
Gandaki Chief Minister Pandey secures vote of confidence
Gandaki Chief Minister (CM) Surendra Pandey received the vote of confidence from the Province Assembly on Thursday. The motion of confidence presented by CM Pandey was passed by a majority. Chief Minister Pandey received the votes from 35 MPs including 27 from the Nepali Congress, 7 from the Maoist Center and 1 from the CPN United Socialist Party.
CIAA Chief Rai likely to be dragged on fake Bhutanese refugee issue
Police have arrested as many as eight high profile people involved in the case of fake Bhutanese refugees. Kathmandu Police has arrested Tek Narayan Pandey, the former Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs for his alleged involvement in the case, and swindling worth millions promising to send Nepali nationals to America as Bhutanese refugees.
All those involved in Bhutanese refugee fraud case should be punished: UML Chai Oli
CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has said that the culprits in the Bhutanese refugee fraud case should not be forgiven. Talking briefly to journalkists after meeting with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda at Singha Darbar on Thursday afternoon, Chairman Oli said that the party will not defend those who are guilty in the case.

The Kathmandu District Court has allowed the police to detain former minister and CPN-UML Secretary Top Bahadur Rayamajhi’s son Sandeep Rayamajhi for three days and investigate. Leader Rayamajhi, along with his son Sandeep and others, is subject to investigation on the case relating to making fake Bhutanese refugees and collecting money from them.

The Rastriya Ekata Abhiyan has expressed concern over the preparation of the Nepali Army to procure weapons from China without formal bidding procedures. Issuing a press statement on Thursday, Abhiyan demanded transparency in the procedures adopted for the weapons procurement from China.
220 rhinos die in CNP in eight years
In the last eight years, 220 rhinos have died in Chitwan National Park (CNP) and its surrounding areas. This is the data from financial year 2015/16 to till date. CNP officials shared that 64 rhinoceros died of old age and fell from a hill, while 19 rhinoceros died after being trapped in swamps and washed away by floods.
