CIAA Chief Rai likely to be dragged into fake Bhutanese refugee issue



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested as many as eight high-profile people involved in the case of fake Bhutanese refugees.

Kathmandu Police has arrested Tek Narayan Pandey, the former Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs for his alleged involvement in the case, and swindling worth millions promising to send Nepali nationals to America as Bhutanese refugees.

Police have also arrested former Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’s security advisor Indrajit Rai.

Meanwhile, police arrested the son of former Minister and CPN-UML Secretary Top Bahadur Rayapajhi’s son Sandeep police on Wednesday evening from Butwal.

He has been brought to Kathmandu.

Meanwhile, sources claimed that those arrested have also dragged former Home Secretary Prem Rai, who is currently the Chief Commissioner at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) into the case.
