Maoist Center to seek consensus candidate for President

To form a consensus with “like-minded parties”



KATHMANDU: Ruling Maoist Centre has decided to forge a national consensus to elect the country’s President.

And if this does not happen, the party has decided to cooperate with parties having “similar intention”.

Talking to journalists after the Standing Committee meeting held on Saturday, Devendra Poudel, Secretary of the Maoist Center, said, “The party will tryo to make consensus on the issue of electing a President.”

He added that since the Nepali Congress (NC), too, has also given a vote of confidence to the Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda-led government, the Maoist Center has decided to take the initiative of form a national consensus.

Poudel said in case of not forming a national consensus, the Maoist Center will move forward together with “like-minded parties”.
