UML picks Saroj Yadav as Madhes PP leader



JANAKPURDHAM: Madhes Province’s biggest party CPN (UML) parliamentary party has picked Saroj Yadav as its leader.

The Madhes Province Party Committee of the CPN (UML) selected Yadav as the leader in the meeting of parliamentary party held in Janakpur on last Tuesday.

Since there were many candidates eyeing for the post, the Province Committee was assigned to pick Yadav as the leader, informed Som Prasad Sharma, leader of CPN (UML).

Yadav who is also a central committee member of CPN (UML) was elected Province Assembly member from Mahottari constituency no 4 (1).

The CPN (UML) has 23 seats in the 107-member Province Assembly and is the largest party followed by the Nepali Congress with 22 seats, the People’s Socialist Party, Nepal with 16 seats, Janamat Party with 13 seats, the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party Nepal with nine seats, the CPN (Maoist Centre) with eight seats and the CPN (Unified Socialist) seven seats.

Similarly, the Nagarik Unmukti Party, the Nepal Federal Socialist Party and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party each one seat and six are independents.
