SC orders to release and send home to Pakistani national Abdul



KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday ordered the Immigration Department to release Pakistani national Mozam Abdul Hai from the jail.

A division bench of justices Sushmalata Mathema and Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma ordered the Department to release the Pakistani national from jail and send him back to his country.

The Pakistani national has been in Nepali jail since October 7, 2019, on a charge of staying in Nepal without a visa extension.

The Department had charged him Rs 781,389 in visa fees and Rs 50,000 in fines for staying in Nepal for 823 days without a visa.

The Department had sent the Pakistani national to jail sentencing seven years in jail after he failed to deposit the amount.

Abdul had filed a petition at the SC demanding his release and repatriation.
