Govt to observe Constitution Day for three days

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to observe Constitution Day for three days.

A meeting of the Constitution Day Main Celebration Committee held at the Prime Minister’s office in Singha Durbar today decided to celebrate the Day for three days beginning on September 19.

Special talk programs, public awareness programs, publication of the Constitution Day Souvenir, interactions and Deepawali, and the lighting of oil-fed lamps are parts of the celebrations.

On September 20, the Constitution Day special ceremony will be held at local Tundikhel.

In his address to the meeting, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ described Constitution Day as the moment for celebrations for the entire citizens and it should be observed in a way that the mass could have ownership.

It may be noted Asoj 3 in the Nepal calendar is observed as the Constitution Day in commemoration of the promulgation of the Constitution by the historic Constituent Assembly on Asoj 3, 2072 BS ( September 20, 2015).
