Govt decides to accept US$1.5 million and 55,505 in grant from the Global Environment Facility



KATHMANDU: The government has decided to accept 1.5 million and 55,505 US Dollars in grant to be received from the Global Environment Facility for Restoring the Degraded Watershed and Livelihoods of Lakhandei River Basin through Sustainable Land Management.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Tuesday decided to accept the grant, the government’s Spokesperson and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma said.

Likewise, Minister Sharma shared that tenure of the corporation recommendation committee formed under the leadership of Shankar Prasad Adhikari has been given two more months.

Similarly, the cabinet meeting decided to form a talks team led by a joint-secretary at Finance Ministry to give a final touch to the document on receiving 20 million US Dollars from the World Bank Group for the Food and Nutrition Reforms Program second phase.

Furthermore, next one panel has been formed under the leadership of a joint-secretary at Finance Ministry to get US$ 100 million US Dollars in concessional loan for budgetary assistance under the Strengthening Public Financial Management and Developed Services Delivery Program.

The Cabinet has also decided to exempt tax as per the clause 18 (10) of the Windfall Gains Tax Financial Act, 2080 on Nick Simons Institute on 20,000 US Dollars of prize to be received from the World Health Organization.

Minister Sharma further informed that entrepreneur, producer and farmers Agni Prasad Aryal, Sharada Niraula, Ramaji Prasad Sapkota and Prem Kumari Adhikari were appointed as the members of seed committee members.
