Nepal elected Vice-President for Asia-Pacific UNESCO Clubs



KATHMANDU: Nepal has been elected to the post of Vice-President of the Asia-Pacific Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations (AFUCA).

Nepal has been unanimously elected to the post in the 26th general session of the AFUCA held in Kazakhstan’s capital city Almaty.

Among the 12 countries of the Asia-Pacific region attending the general assembly, Nepal and Vietnam had registered their candidacies for the post and both countries were elected to the post unanimously.

Nepal’s representative in the election was Anandaraj Tripathi, President of the National Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Mayor of Bhanu Municipality in Tanahu district.

Similarly, South Korea took the chair of the AFUCA beating the Philippines in the voting.

South Korea obtained 10 votes while the Philippines conceded defeat securing 2 votes.

Sunjoo Lee, representing South Korea, was in the fray. Upon the election to the Vice-President post, elated Tripathi pledged to work more actively to take forward movement of the UNESCO in the Asia-Pacific region.
