Police nab six in allegation of taking Nepali girl to India for sacrifice

KATHMANDU: The police have arrested six people under the allegation of taking a Nepali girl to India for human sacrifice.

According to SSP Jeevan Shrestha, head of Anti-Human Trafficking Bureau of Nepal Police, a 16-year-old Nepali girl was rescued by the Human Trafficking Bureau of the Nepal Police with the help of the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi,and the Indian Police.

Shrestha informed that the girl was rescued from Mangalbazar Street No. 2, Baprulla India. The girl has already been brought to Nepal on Thursday.

Police have arrested 6 people involved in taking the girl to India. Citing the investigation is going on, the police have not released the names of the arrested.

According to the police, the victim girl was brought to Kathmandu from her uncle’s house on November 17. SSP Shrestha said that the victim was held hostage without being allowed to contact her relatives.

According to the police, the girl was first brought to her maternal uncle’s on December 3, was kept hostage for some time and then was taken to Paharganj, New Delhi, India, through Sunauli Naka with the help of many people on the way.
According to the statement given by the arrested, they were asked to bring a girl who was at least 5 feet 4 inches tall, had no scars or tattoos on her body, had no injuries on any part, and was not menstruating.

According to the police, the victim girl was tempted to meet a tantric baba who would offer her a large sum and also make her happy.
“It has also been found that the girl met with 3 different tantrics in different places in India”, Shrestha said, “Currently the girl is kept in the shelter of a social organization.”
