Third Rhino Range Countries Meeting held in Chitwan



CHITWAN: The Third Rhino Range Countries Meeting has begun here at Patihani in Chitwan today.

The three-day gathering participated by high ranking officials of five countries in the South Asia will focus on the conservation of one-horned rhinos, it has been said.

The participating countries are Nepal, India, Bhutan, Indonesia and Malaysia, said Dr Ganesh Panta, information officer for the Department of National Park and Wildlife Conservation.

Similarly, joint secretaries of the respective ministries and Director Generals of the Department of Forest and national parks, government employees who work at fields in the field of rhino, and experts on rhino from other participating countries will participate, he said.

Rhino experts will present their working papers and exchange their experiences on the related field, according to him.

The meeting is expected to have a discussion on a wide range of challenges in conserving one-horned rhinos, and future plans would be made accordingly, he said.

The First Rhino Range Countries Meeting took place in Indonesia, and second in India.
