3rd Int’l Watercolor Festival kicks off

KATHMANDU: The Third International Watercolour Festival has kicked off in the capital city, Kathmandu on Saturday.

Minister for Youth and Sports, Dig Bahadur Limbu inaugurated the Festival organized at Nepal Art Council, Babarmahal, where 343 artworks from 39 countries have been put on display.

On the occasion, Minister Limbu pointed out the need of developing art as it helps renowned the country in the international arena and contributes in tourism development.

The Minister expressed commitment for cooperation and collaboration from his place for the development and promotion of art sector.

Similarly, Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Narad Mani Hartamchhali, said organising a festival with art exhibition of artists of 30 different countries is itself an exemplary work.

On the occasion, Rastriya Samachar Samiti correspondent Narayan Dhungana has been awarded with International Watercolour Journalism Award. The award carries a purse of Rs 10,000.

Similarly, Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to senior artist Madan Chitrakar while Watercolour Young Artist Award to Jeevan Poudel and International Art promotion Award to Charchit Shrestha.
