NC General Secy Gagan Thapa calls for investigation of high officials’ assets post-1990



BUTWAL: Nepali Congress General Secretary, Gagan Thapa, proposes legislation to investigate assets acquired illegitimately by high-ranking officials since 1990.

Speaking at the Lumbini province conference, he emphasized the need to probe individuals misusing authority and bring them to justice.

Thapa urged creating an environment of accountability within NC, emphasizing the investigation of irregular wealth acquired after the 1990s. He highlighted the importance of distinguishing honest contributors from corrupt figures and advocated for penalizing those found guilty.

Thapa stressed the need for an ethical framework within the party, citing the vital work undertaken by dedicated NC members in rural areas. He called for reinforcing the belief that the NC prioritizes societal welfare over corruption.

Addressing the current coalition government involving the NC, Thapa urged a sharper focus on public concerns. He pointed out deficiencies in various sectors, emphasizing the need for effective action based on expert suggestions.

While acknowledging the government’s efforts, Thapa called for introspection on why initiatives under the NC leadership fail to resonate with the populace, highlighting the importance of connecting with people’s sentiments.
