Tourist arrivals in Nepal surpass 800,000 in 10-month span

KATHMANDU: Nepal welcomed over 800,000 tourists during the first ten months of this year, marking a significant increase in tourism activity.

According to the Nepal Tourism Board, a total of 890,678 foreign tourists visited the country between January and October 2023.

Notably, the number of tourist arrivals via the air route in October alone reached 117,000, illustrating a notable surge compared to the 88,582 arrivals during the same period in 2022.

In October, the largest influx of tourists originated from India, with 18,480 visitors, followed by 14,879 from the USA, 8,217 from the UK, 6,880 from China, and 6,075 from Australia.

Similarly, 5,911 tourists visited from Germany, 5,271 from France, 4,292 from Bangladesh, 2,507 from Sri Lanka, and 2,467 from Italy.
