Size of Nepal’s economy reaches Rs 5381.34 billion



KATHMANDU: The country’s overall size of the economy is projected to be Rs 5381.34 billion with an increase of 1.86 point percent in the consumer price in the fiscal year 2079/080 BS.

The GDP per capita of Nepalis would be 1,399 US Dollars in the current fiscal year while the remittance inflow is projected to be Rs 1231.73 billion, the National Statistics Office, said.

Chief Statistics Officer Ram Prasad Thapaliya said the statistics were made public to help formulate an economic policy of the country by measuring different aspects of the economy and help monitor and assess the economic development activities.

Likewise, Deputy Chief of the Office, Dr Hemraj Regmi, said that agriculture has the highest contribution to the country’s GDP in the current fiscal year with 24.12 percent.

However, the industrial sector has a contribution of just 5.32 percent to the GDP.
