Budhigandaki Hydropower project will be implemented: PM Dahal

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has pledged to implement the Budhigandaki Hydropower Project, a national pride project. During a meeting with a delegation led by Gandaki rural municipality Chair, Deepak Timilsina, at the PM’s official residence Baluwatar today, the Prime Minister promised to clearly state about the projects in the upcoming budget.

Improving crisis-ridden economy is my priority and commitment: Finance Minister Mahat

Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has said that improving the crisis-ridden economy is his priority and commitment. “The suggestions and collaboration of the private sector is needed for this,” the Finance Minister remarked in a meeting with a delegation of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) here today.

By-election: NC to support Upendra Yadav in Bara-2

Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to support Janata Samajwadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav in Bara Constituency-2 in the April 23 by-election. A meeting of the party’s Central work execution Committee held at the party office in Sanepa on Sunday morning decided to support Yadav.

SC receives writ seeking prosecution of RSP Chair Lamichhane

A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court (SC) demanding action against the Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane for allegedly misusing the passport. Yuvraj Paudel ‘Safal’ of Sindhuli, filed a writ against Lamichhane and the Office of the Attorney General at SC on Sunday.

NEPSE declines by 20 points on Sunday

Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has responded newly appointed Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat by witnessing a decline of 20 points on Sunday, the first trading day of the week. The NEPSE fell by 1.05 percent on the first trading day after receiving Mahat. The stock market index NEPSE closed at 1888.55 points with a drop of 20 points.

DPM Shrestha assures loan sharking victims of resolving their problem

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha has assured the agitating victims of predatory lending of resolving their problem. The government has reached an agreement with them and their problem would be resolved soon, he said.

NC “pardons” former minister Joshi, others

Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to “pardon” former minister Govindraj Joshi, Bikash Koirala and other leaders, who had violated party discipline. Joint General Secretary Badri Pandey said that a meeting of Nepali Congress Central work Execution Committee held at Sanepa on Sunday decided to pardon leaders of Bara, Tanahun and Chitwan who violated the party discipline by contesting as independent candidates before 2079 BS.

NA flight to Dubai delayed for 11 hours after pilot reportedly falls ill

A Kathmandu-Dubai flight of Nepal Airlines was delayed for 11 hours after the aircraft’s pilot reportedly fell ill. The flight number RA229 of NA, which was supposed to fly on Saturday at 12 midnight, took off around 11 am on Sunday.

Around 100 thousand foreign tourists visit Nepal in March

Around 100 thousand tourists visited Nepal in March this year. According to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), 99 thousand 426 visitors entered Nepal in the month and of them, 33 thousand 454 were from the SAARC nations, 15 thousand 643 from other Asian nations, 23 thousand 265 from the Europe and 3,958 arrived from the countries of the Oceania region.
