NC to consult with parties for NA Vice Chair election

The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to sit for talks with other political parties in view of the election of the Vice-Chairperson of the National Assembly (NA). A meeting of the executive committee of NC parliamentary today agreed to hold discussions and consultation with the parties in the opposition alliance and others in the ruling alliance as well in regard with the election, according to NC Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak.

Chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Rabi Lamichhane on Thursday held talks with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. Lamichhane reached Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Thursday morning and urged the latter to reinstate him as the Home Minister.

Govt transfers 26 Joint Secretaries

The government has transferred 26 Joint Secretaries. A meeting of the cabinet held on Monday made the decision to this effect. According to Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers sources, joint secretaries working in various ministries, departments, commissions, states and agencies have been transferred.

Gold price increased by Rs 1,200 per tola in the domestic market on Thursday. It is being traded at Rs 107,500 today. The price of the yellow metal was traded at Rs 106,300 on Wednesday per tola (11.66 grams), according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers Association.

Canadian national arrested with 9 kg gold at TIA

A Canadian national was arrested along with nine kilograms of gold from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu. A team of the TIA Customs Office apprehended Canadian citizen Mohammad Kamal Mahagob, 35, in course of security screening.

One more arrested among the absconding detainees

One more person has been arrested among the six detainees, who escaped from Mahendranagar area police office of Dhanusha. The team of District Police Office Dhanusha and Madhesh Province Police arrested 35-year-old Binod Kumar Sharma of Chireshwarnath Municipality-5.
