Prime Minister Dahal to take vote of confidence on January 10



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has decided to take the vote of confidence in the Parliament on 10th of January.

Dahal, who took the oath of the Prime Minister on 26th of December, has requested the parliament secretariat, on Monday, to arrange to table the agenda of vote of confidence on the parliament on 10th January.

“The Prime Minister has sent a letter to include the subject of vote of confidence on the agenda of the Parliament on the 10th of January,” the spokesperson of the Parliament Secretariat Rojnath Pandey said.

Dahal became the Prime Minister with the support of seven parties in accord with Article 76 of the Constitution. There is a constitutional provision that a person who has become the Prime Minister should take a vote of confidence within one month of swearing in to office.

The first meeting of the new House of Representatives is scheduled to be held on the 9th of January.

PM Dahal is going to take the vote of confidence one day after the parliament starts.
