KARNALI: The first meeting of the second term of the Karnali Pradesh Assembly is being held today.

The meeting of the state assembly is going to be held today afternoon.

According to Jivaraj Budhathoki, Secretary of the Karnali Pradesh Assembly Secretariat, four agendas have been fixed for today’s meeting.

Today’s meeting will also set the date for the election of the Speaker of the Assembly.

According to the constitutional provision, a Speaker should be elected within 15 days of holding the first meeting of the Provincial Assembly.

The senior-most member of the Karnali Province Assembly, Binod Kumar Shah, will preside over today’s meeting.

The Karnali Province Assembly has 14 MPs from the Nepali Congress, 13 from the Maoist Center, and 10 from the CPN-UML.

Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Unified Socialist have one parliamentarian each.

The assembly has one independent lawmaker.
