Senior citizens are source of inspiration for knowledge, skills, and experience: President Paudel



KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel has said the present youth generation should accept the learning useful for life from the senior citizens who are a source of inspiration for knowledge, skills, and experience.

In a message of best wishes he gave on the occasion of the 33rd International Day of Older Persons 2023 today, the Head of State expressed that the inter-generational transfer and utilization of knowledge, skills, and experience of the older persons would greatly assist in achieving economic prosperity and social goodwill.

Stating that the country’s youths have gone abroad in connection with studies and employment due to which only the older people are left behind at home, President Paudel said it was about time to think from the State level itself regarding the protection of the rights of the senior citizens and for their welfare and wellbeing.

He has expressed best wishes that may the International Day of Older Persons 2023 inspire one and all to comprehend and have others do the same the significance of an ideal family based on the oriental philosophy of a joint family wherein grandparents to grandchildren live together in single family under the patronage of the older persons.

The President also called upon all to make the life of the older people dignified, respectable, and happy, extending best wishes to all the senior citizens within the country and abroad for good health, and long and dignified life.
