Govt keeps petroleum prices unchanged amid public relief

KATHMANDU: The government has opted not to proceed with the proposed hike in petroleum product prices.

During a recent cabinet meeting, it was decided to maintain the existing prices for petroleum products.

Addressing the House of Representatives on Sunday, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ informed parliament that the government had instructed the Nepal Oil Corporation not to implement the price increases announced on Saturday.

On Saturday, the Nepal Oil Corporation had initially planned to raise the price of petrol by Rs 2 per liter and the prices of diesel and kerosene by Rs 6 per liter. However, the government’s decision to maintain the current prices has brought relief to the public.
