NC decides to forward Thapa as Chief Minister candidate in Koshi

BIRATNAGAR: The Nepali Congress (NC) has put forward Uddhav Thapa, the leader of the parliamentary party in Koshi Province, as the Chief Minister of Koshi.

The NC Parliamentary Party meeting held on Tuesday afternoon decided to take Thapa’s name ahead.

NC province assembly member Bhim Parajuli said that Thapa is preparing to submit a claim to the chief minister.

“It was agreed that NC will lead the government in the coalition,” he said, adding, “Accordingly, the meeting of our parliamentary party has decided to advance the leader of the party to the position of Chief Minister. We are preparing to submit a claim.”

Parajuli said that after the resignation of the Speaker, Thapa will go to the office of the provincial head to submit his claim.

Based on the provision Article 168 (2) of the Constitution, after Thapa was relieved of his post as the Chief Minister on Thursday by the order of the Supreme Court, the Province chief Parshuram Khapung has called to submit claims for the formation of the government by Tuesday.
