NEPSE gains 16.39 points to close at 1,874.87 on Monday



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index has gained 16.39 points to settle at 1,874.87 points on the first trading day after Tihar holidays.

The index had gained 14.35 points last trading day before Tihar.

The index that opened at 1,860.39 point went as low as 1,856.93 and ultimately closed at an intraday high of 1,874.87. Similarly, the Sensitive Index gained 4.93 points to close at 370.86 points today.

A total of 2,574,975 shares of 224 companies traded hands via 17,748 transactions, resulting in a daily turnover of Rs 697 million today.

NIC Asia Bank Limited had the highest turnover of Rs 617 million while the shares of Prabhu Bank Limited traded the most.

Also, Sayapatri Hydropower Limited gained the highest 10 percent and hit positive circuit for the day while Upper Hewakhola Hydropower Company Limited lost the most 8.16 percent today.

Only one sector closed red, “Development Bank” lost 0.39 percent while “Hotels And Tourism” gained the highest 1.65 percent in the market today.
