SC directs to look into AIGs grievance related case together with other cases of similar nature

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has directed to look into the case filed by Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Bishwaraj Pokharel against the appointment of Inspector General of Police (IGP) putting together with other cases of a similar nature.

AIG Pokhrel had filed a case in the apex court alleging that the recent appointment of the Inspector General of Police was unfair for it violated the provision of appointing IGP on the basis of seniority.

A division bench of Justices Bishwombhar Shrestha and Kumar Chudal directed to look into Pokhrel’s case along with the cases of retired Deputy Inspector General Ishwar Babu Karki, Prakash Jung Karki, and Ghanshyam Aryal.

Tuesday’s verdict has indicated that the court is likely to take more time for the final verdict.

AIG Pokhrel is retiring in July.
