The budget is more like the election manifesto of the ruling coalition: UML Vice Chair Poudel

KATHMANDU: Former Finance Minister and CPN-UML Vice Chairman Bishnu Poudel has said that the election government has brought a manifesto instead of a budget.

Taking part in the discussion relating to the government’s allocation of budget for the forthcoming fiscal year in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, former Finance Minister Poudel lambasted the government for creating the financial responsibility it can not carry ahead.

“Budget allocation is airy and looks like the election declaration of the ruling coalition,” he said, adding, “Rather than reducing the burden of financial obligations, the government has further aggravated the situation; it has also failed to address the economic crisis.”

Poudel said that the budget in the form of an essay could not provide any delivery. He also satirized the budget saying that it was like a petition written in a submissive tone.
