Ruling coalition agrees to forge electoral alliance in local polls



KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition has agreed to forge an electoral alliance in the upcoming local level elections to be held on May 13.

A meeting of the ruling alliance held in Baluwatar today decided to form an electoral alliance in metropolitan cities from the center itself.

According to the decision, the local level itself will decide on the alliance in case of sub metropolitan cities, municipalities and rural municipalities based on the local circumstances and necessity.

Similarly, the coalition leaders have also decided to form a mechanism to form an electoral alliance.

The next meeting will form a mechanism on the electoral alliance for the upcoming local level elections.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Jhala Nath Khanal, Ram Chandra Poudel, Narayan Kaji Shrestha,  Ashok Rai, Purna Bahadur Khadka, Gagan Thapa, Durga Paudel, Rajendra Shrestha, and Gyanendra Bahadur Karki were present in the meeting.
