Elderly man dies in wild elephant attack

JHAPA: An elderly man was killed due to an attack by a wild elephant at Mechinagar Municipality-13 in Jhapa district on Monday.

The elephant that strayed into the settlement from a nearby forest attacked local Khamba Singh Karki, 75, while he was chasing it away.

Injured Karki died at Birtacity Hospital in Birtamod, said the police.

The incident took place at 3 am. A local resident, Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari, 63, was also killed when a wild elephant attacked him five days ago.
