Traditional bands aided to indigenous communities



PALPA: The Indigenous Nationalities Coordination Committee Rampur has provided with local bands to Magar and Newar community here so as to preserve and promote indigenous art and culture.

The committee handed over a madal and khaijdi each to 14 Magar community groups and dholak and jhyali sets to Newar community groups.

On the occasion, committee chair Iswari Shrestha said that the bands were provided to the indigenous community members so as to promote the traditional occupation of band play.

Ward chair Ek Bahadur Nepali informed that the ward had provided the economic assistance to arrange traditional bands to the community members in a bid to preserve our hard-earned local band culture.

“It is the shared responsibility to protect our traditional art, culture and customs. The budget was appropriated to help the community members to their bid to continue the culture”, he added.
