POKHARA: The 20th edition of Pokhara’s prestigious football tournament Aaha Rara Gold Cup ended with a loss of Rs 347,800.
Sahara Club Pokhara, the organizer of the competition, held a press conference here on Friday to share the income and expenditure of the tournament. The club reported that the total income from various sponsorships and organizations in the competition was Rs 6.6 million while the expenditure was Rs 6.9 million.
The actual loss was around 1.2 million rupees in the tournament that was played without spectators except for the semi-final and final matches due to the spread of COVID-19.
However, it received donations worth of 500,000 rupees from Sahara Hong Kong, 300,000 from Sahara UK and 100,000 rupees from Sahara Australia, fund raising sub-committee coordinator Sunil Gurung said.
The 20th edition of the national competition was conducted from January 20 to 29 earlier this year. The APF Football Club of the Armed Police had defeated Manang Masryangdi Football Club to win the title of the competition.
